VinBaba — web app & browser extension
VinBaba is private by default. No account, name, or email is required. We keep as little as possible.
What we do with what you enter
When you value a car, the VIN, mileage, and ZIP you provide are sent to our valuation service and to a licensed automotive market-data provider to produce the estimate. The VIN is decoded (year/make/model/specs) and used to look up current market values. We do not ask for or collect your name, email, address, or any payment details to run a free valuation.
What we keep
- A record of valuations you run — the vehicle, the estimated value, and the date — tied to a random id stored on your own device, so we can show your valuation history and understand overall demand. This is not linked to your identity.
- Anonymous, aggregate usage metrics (e.g. how many valuations were run).
- A random device id in your browser's local storage so the free tier and your history work. It contains no personal information.
What we don't do
- No account, name, or email is required or collected.
- We don't sell or share your personal data.
- The browser extension only reads page content when you actively use it (when you click "Scan page" or use the right-click value option) — never silently in the background, and only to find a VIN on the listing you're viewing.
The browser extension's permissions
The extension requests the minimum it needs: to read the page you're actively viewing (to find a VIN so you don't have to type it), to send the VIN/mileage/ZIP for valuation, to show a result notification, and to store your anonymous id on your device. It can only contact the VinBaba valuation service.
Estimates are guidance only
Values are estimates for informational purposes, not a certified appraisal or an offer to buy or sell. Always inspect a vehicle and verify its history before any transaction.
